Utah Wedding Photographer - Engagements and Wildflowers at Albion Basin

Summer has come and gone and I feel like I am so behind with everything in my life, most especially photo shoot posting! I have some great stuff that I just need to get up, so I will probably be posting like a mad women soon! But, for now, on to this post.
Tammie and Jason wanted engagement photos that were taken up in the mountains - a place they like to spend a lot of their free time! So, we decided to head up to Albion Basin, which is part of Alta Ski Resort and located at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon. For years, I have heard about the beautiful wildflowers up there, but have never ventured there myself...until now. And, I must say it was amazing. Amazing, except for the bugs that seemed to be everywhere. I talk about the bugs a lot, don't I? Well, they are hard to work with. Dang it. At least I know to bring bug spray next time and the photos turned out great despite the pesky things!
ANYWAY, I am excited to post these photos and have done Tammie's bridals and will be doing their wedding photos, as well, so keep watching for some great wedding stuff coming soon!

These two photos are similar to the one I used the vignette on - better with or without the vignette?

Utah Event Photographer - Hope Kids - Princess Party

I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Summer is sure a busy time, isn't it?
In my last post I mentioned I was given a chance to photograph something special. Well, here is the post about that event.
In June, I had the privilege to be one of three photographers to photograph an event for the Hope Kids. The Hope Kids is an organization that plans events and activities for children with cancer, or other life threatening illnesses.
The Hope Kids organized a Princess Party, held at the Woods on Ninth Reception Center, in Murray, Utah.
The children and many of the parents dressed up in Princess(or Prince) attire, were greeted by a professional "announcer" who announced their arrival to all the other guests. The announcing was done by Don Hudson, of Channel Four News.
The little guests were treated to fine dining while orchestra music played in the background.
After dinner the Princesses arrived, descending the staircase to be greeted by the open arms of their MANY admirers. The Princesses seated themselves in the lovely courtyard of the Woods, and made themselves available to chat, hug, and play with all the children.
All of this was followed by Cinderella leading the kids in a manners and etiquette class, at the end of which, fairy dust was thrown in the air to turn the children into "real" Princesses and Princes! The sneaky dust even made its way down my shirt, and although it was super itchy, I don't think I was transformed into a Princess...maybe, next time!
Topping of the evening was dancing with the Princesses! The kid's loved this part! The Princesses are true Princesses to them and they look up to them. I heard so many sweet comments made by children speaking to their favorite Princess.
The event was amazing and I'm so lucky to have been allowed to help out a bit! I left with a reminder that I have an amazing, healthy, life that I need not take for granted!

Utah Fashion Photographer - Rust Vintage

This is another shoot that Tanya and I did for her blog. She was showing off the vintage tan skirt she just bought. I just loved how the rust background looked with the tan of the skirt! Such a great color combo!
I took so many great photos of Tanya that I can't help posting them all. But, tomorrow I will be shooting something special that I hope I can share soon.

Utah Fashion Photographer - Tanya and Tree

Yet another post of my Tanya photo shoots! This one was more for me and my experimental urges than for Tanya's blog, however she did post some of these on November Grey, too.
I had been admiring this tree since I arrived in Cali. I loved how the light passed through its leaves, and had planned to take these photos during the "golden hour" while the sun was setting...I can only imagine how beautiful these shots would have been had I done just that! But, instead I shot them on the day I was leaving in the harsh mid-day sun! Ouch. And, to boot, the entire shoot was probably only 15 minutes, since Tanya's little girl wanted to be up in the chair with Tanya...story of a mommy's life, right?! :)
I normally focus more on the person in my photos since I'm a portrait photographer, but this tree was just as much the focus of many of these photos, as my subject. Isn't it amazing? I mean, where can I find a tree this great in Utah? Haven't seen one yet!
And, look at that great vintage chair...with it's original upholstery no less! I will be doing another post, on my other blog, Design Diffuse, which will include this chair! Check back for more details.
